A heartbroken young mum has revealed how her boyfriend and father of her twin babies made her hold them while he killed them.
Megan Hiatt, 22, is reportedly recovering in hospital after being hit by several bullets fired by lover, Gawain Wilson, as he had killed their babies.
The twin babies who were killed by their father were Hayden, nicknamed Chunky Monkey Reese, and Kayden, called Little Bit Rose.
Wilson had reportedly also killed her father before turning the gun on himself.
Hiatt's mother, Melissa Batch, revealed what her daughter had told her from her hospital bed in Jacksonville, Florida.
A hysterical Hiatt had told her mother: "Mama, he killed them. He killed them in my arms. He made me hold them when he killed them. He made me watch."
Ms Batch expressed gratitude to God that her daughter had survived the traumatising incident, adding:
"He gave Megan the strength to drag her body across the room. She had to crawl through her babies' blood, then through the shooter's blood, and to her dad to hear his last words."
Miss Hiatt and Wilson's relationship is said to have been troubled and it is understood that he was in the habit of regularly smash items around the home when he flew into a rage.
Wilson had pleaded guilty to strangulation in 2013 and attended a domestic violence programme before this incident, leading to his suicide.
